Attenton Creationists... more PROOF your idealogy is wrong.
This isn't speculation, theory, questionable, or otherwise.. this is hard proof. I even used a right wing website to cite it for you guys....

I would like to hear a defense of this.. an explanation of somehow this rock only being 6000 years old instead of the reality here. If anyone says "but the bible is the word of god".. I will simply ignore your post... please use science not superstition.

people take the bible literally. my father was a pastor for most of my child hood, he was never one of the bible thumping extremist creationism cronies.sure god could have created the earth, who knows, but the earth is certainly not 6000 years old.
it states in the bible several times that god is outside of time. maybe the creation of earth took billions of years? maybe those billions of years were only 7 days in gods time, just like a "blink of an eye" is equal to 2000+ years in jesus time.
something i always thought was odd is that adam and eve were functioning people the same as you and i when they were created. i am an anthropology major, my thinking is maybe they were a bunch of australopithecus afarensis's? cain was marked true? maybe he was marked with the ability to walk bipedally, thus marking all of his offspring and human kind thereafter with that trait?

Believing in creation stipulates an age?
Or some religions do?

OP, they will simply say that the dating methods used on the rock are not legitimate or they will say that god made everything on earth with age (the way Adam was "created" an adult and never was a baby or anything)....
Trust me, there is NO amount of proof for YE Creationists.
That is why I see no point in debating with them or even having a simple discussion....it is pointless.
When Bill Nye "debated" with Ken Ham, there was a very telling answer Ken Ham (a staunch YE Creationist) replied when asked what it would take for him to change his mind....
Bill Nye said that the only thing it would take for him to chance his mind was evidence....so what did Ken Ham say?
^There you have it....NOTHING....literally NOTHING will change the minds of YE Creationists....no amount of proof or anything at all.
And the hilarious part about everything is that we (atheists and non-believers) are called stubborn for our position, and yet I can openly say that my mind COULD be changed with the right amount of evidence.

creationists believe the bible is the word of god, and as such, the world is only 6000 years old.

I don't think there are any YE's here.
Though I know the Bible was written by man, show me where it says the earth is 6000 years old.
And if you want to trace generations, then you will need to know how old each person was when they gave birth. If people lived to 1000+ years why was not Eve older when she had her children?
If you think this is new evidence I got some news, there are plenty of fossils older than 6000 years.

The Bible may not specifically say the Earth is 6,000 years old but based on the "genealogical record" found in it, it clearly suggests that humans and ever other living thing have only been around for 6,000 years.
Genesis is clearly a fairy tale. Why would the "writers" of the Bible include fairy tales in it? And an even bigger question; why would otherwise intelligent people not recognize that they are fairy tales?

So if I believe in Creation, but also that the earth is older than 6000 my head will explode because it's impossible for one to believe that?
Also, can you point out the number 6000 for me in the bible? I just want to make sure it isn't something that could easily be misinterpreted, like "a day is as a thousand years", or something like that.Last edited by Wickabee; 02-25-2014 at 11:05 AM.
